Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow...

Well I went out to Cooma today to meet a friend who is training in the ACT. I am now convinced that every Asian and Indian in a 4x4 or Van driving about ski fields is trying to kill me :crsg: . Do they not get the whole concept of lanes? :sng: Why come halfway into mine? A few of them almost wore a size 11 structural fire fighting stamp on the side of their vehicles... :cmn: The ride out was okay, though between Adaminaby and Cooma, it got real foggy and wet... add to that it is about 900 to 1100 metres the fingers were burning and the nose was running.

I passed through Adaminaby and old Adaminaby, as well as Freemans Reach. Some seriously nice land up that way and I would love to find a property up there to do some hunting on, the winds move up there like the devil and it is wide open, would make the stalk real interesting. In amongst the snow gums would also be a treat. Not to mention the place lives and breathes for fishing... there are quiet a few shops you could spend hours in.

On the way back the sky was awfully grey. It started raining... no sweat. The said Asians and Indians were now returning and trying to kill me again. Then it started hailing, sleeting and after stopping to take some brag pics of the bike in the snow... it started really snowing. Up that way is some beautiful country and the roads are made for bikes and cruising... some of those corners you can get riiight into it and lean it right down. Anyway some photos...

Looking good there Muddy :)

Whilst riding along the freeway between Hornsby and Gosford the driver in a Ferrari really understood that he was pushing into my lane when I left my boot print impression in the door and minutes later I was forced into the breakdown lane by a coach bus and a similar result happened there as well, thankfully the passengers on the bus were nice enough to yell at the driver and when he looked in the mirror his eyes almost popped out!!

It was an awesome experience mate thats for sure. As a bit of a closet survivalist, I also used it to find some chinks in my armour when using the bike in real cold environments. By the time I hit Cooma, I was definitely in the first and second stages of hypothermia, the cold seemed to be seated right in the core of my chest. Have seen it plenty of times in search and rescue jobs, as well as the opposite with hypothermia when fighting structural fires with the NSWFB. I took great pains to layer my clothing and protect myself and located some chinks that need attention. Employing the right methods for relieving the hyperthermia though, I bounced back real quick. A combination of the methods of recovery and general fitness I guess. Whilst crossing the mountain on the way back I was facinated again how the snow building up and compacting on me as I rode was having an insulating effect against the cold and I started warming again. By the time I got to Talbingo though, the 12 degrees there and heat coming from the road made it feel like a spring afternoon.

The sun setting along that sweeping road by Lake Blowering and the scarlet and rose colours contrasting against the black and brown snow/storm clouds helped. When getting back up the mountain to Batlow and seeing the first phase of the waning moon sitting fat over the very same mountains I had crossed and the light that it threw across them also made it worth it. I do love where I live and I also love that bike! :drl:

Sounds like a great part of the world you got there Muddy.

I've never seen much of that part of the world other than from 30,000 feet but I did drive through the area on my way back from Merimbula a few months back and yeah, I was thinking to myself this place defiantly warrants further investigation. Hmmm
Unfortunately is a bit far away for me but I thought that one day I might like to do a pack hunt in a SF or something, if there are any!
Have you checked out any state forests down there?

Nice picks and description of you trip too mate.
